The Taos experience!

What a wonderful day and week. I decided to write this last blog.

Your kids were wonderful. They fully immersed themselves in all the activities and service learning projects. I actually got a little choked up today watching them set up activities for the Taos day camp children and then playing hand and hand with them during all the activities. Your children were rock stars this week and I am so proud of them.

Today capped of an amazing week. The kids from the Pueblo were so sad to see our kids leave. I also know it was hard for our kids to leave. We worked very hard this week at the school too. We then went to the Rio Grande and went to a swimming hole. Tonight we had a private concert with Robert Mirabal and his young daughters and it was amazing.

It was a spectacular week and I saw so many special moments.

Best and have a great rest of the summer.

Great day

We had a great day today. Worked at Taos day school. We played with the kids, painted the school, and helped building a orno oven. We then went to learn the art of jewelry making at Floyds sisters house. After we went back to the lodge where we had a awesome charades game we went to a elders house. We learned how to throw an axe at a target and Trent, Griffin , and Ellen stuck the axe in the target. Ella then makes this incredible throw and splits the target in half to become the champion. We then learned the art of baking bread in the Orno oven. We had a awesome meal with fresh bread enchiladas, beans, and salad. Looking forward to Thursday.

Taos day

Yesterday we went to Larry Tores' house. It was possibly the most amazing experience I have every had. This house is not a normal house. It is a journey through religions, experiences, cultures, language, and your self. His house is modeled around a sacred geometry, specifically the number 3. Once he told us this, I became very aware of this. I counted everything, especially the spiral symbol one the wall (42) and the ceiling supports (21). Larry is the type of person you never fogey meeting. His stories amaze you, his personality makes you happy, and his knowledge enlightens you. He speaks a total of 14 languages. To the average person, that is incredible. Every room is different, yet amazing (in my opinion). Some may find the rooms creepy. I for one would love to go back again, and maybe even stay in his house (unlike others). -Lily Loftis
